Lions Club to host Turtle Derby

The Youngstown Lions Club’s 53rd annual Turtle Derby is going to be June 23. There will be a Chinese auction, a chance to win money, games for children, prizes, food, music, and more. This event is fun for the whole family.

The derby will take place during the Cruising on the River Car Show in the gazebo area in downtown Lowellville. The races will start at 6:00 p.m. Come early to play games, win prizes, enter drawings, and eat.

The Lions Club has raised more than $15,000 and their goal is $30,000. The money earned is all given back to people in need. Some of the people the club has given to include The Beatitude House, Big Brothers & Big Sisters, Easter Seals, Fish Samaritan House, Goodwill Eyeglass Program, Habitat for Humanity, Help Hotline, Make a Wish Foundation, Needles Eye, The Rescue Mission, The Rich Center for Autism, The Salvation Army, Second Harvest Food Bank, Sojourner House and St. Vincent DePaul.

The new cookbook that includes approximately 166 recipes will also be unveiled. If you ordered a copy of the cookbook, you can pick it up that night.
