Hubbard man who fled police arrested in Cornersburg

Police caught a man they’d been looking for since he fled while they tried to serve a warrant in Hubbard Township Thursday morning.

Ted Frisch, 42, who was wanted for felony robbery, ran when Hubbard Township Police tried to serve the warrant at his residence on Stonybrook Drive in Hubbard.

He was caught at 1:30 today in Cornersburg, said Hubbard Township Detective Sgt. Mike Begeot.

Frisch had jumped a fence from the trailer park where he lives into a weigh station on Interstate 80. He crossed north and southbound lanes, followed by a Hubbard officer and an Ohio State Highway Patrol trooper who saw him, but he escaped into woods near Gale Avenue.

Police, searched there, then traced his cell phone to another location in Liberty township. They searched there, then said they would rely on tips.

Dan Deville, head of the U.S. Marshal’s Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force, said they found Frisch walking through the parking lot of the Sparkle Market at Meridian and Canfield roads. He said they are not sure what he was doing in the area, but Hubbard Township is following up on whether someone was harboring him.

Deville said Frisch gave himself up peacefully and is now in the Trumbull County Jail. Arraignment will be set next week.
