Cops have suspect in double shooting
Staff report
YOUNGSTOWN
Police issued a warrant for a suspect in a shooting at a South Avenue store Wednesday afternoon that injured two people.
Police are looking for Tyrell Maiden, 24, of Youngstown, who is charged with two counts of felonious assault.
Police said Maiden went into the store at 3211 South Ave. looking for another man he was arguing with. Several shots were fired, wounding the 25-year-old owner and a 12-year-old boy who was also there.
Both men fled the store after the shooting.
The victims are expected to recover.
Detective Sgt. Darryl Martin said another person who was thought to have been involved was taken into custody Wednesday evening on a warrant in another case. But charges are not expected to be filed against him in this case because he was acting in self defense.
Martin said Maiden is the person who came into the store looking for the other man. Shots were fired by both men, and the owner and the boy were both hit by gunfire.
