Pavlik pleads guilty to OVI charge

AUSTINTOWN — Kelly Pavlik pleaded guilty to a charge of operating a vehicle under the influence Wednesday afternoon in court.

Pavlik, 31 of Canfield, was originally scheduled for an evidence suppression hearing in Mahoning Court 4 in Austintown. When he was called to the bench at about 1:10 p.m., he entered in a plea of guilty to the OVI charge.

The former boxing champion has a mandatory suspended license, 12 months probation, and three days in jail or in lieu of jail time, he can attend the driver intervention program.

Pavlik had previously turned down a plea deal on March 17.

The original incident took place at 12:25 a.m. Dec. 9 when a trooper with the Ohio State Highway Patrol cited Pavlik with OVI at the Youngstown-Niles exit on the Ohio Turnpike.
