Gas prices rise
YOUNGSTOWN
Northeast Ohio gas prices increased nearly 4 cents per gallon this week to $3.84, according to AAA East Central.
The national average price for regular unleaded gasoline is $3.66 per gallon. Tuesday’s average is about a nickel more per gallon than the same date last year. The national average has increased for six consecutive days for a total of about 2 cents more per gallon as violence in Iraq has intensified, according to AAA.
The average gas price this week in Northeast Ohio is $3.84. In the Youngstown-Warren area, the average price Tuesday for regular was listed at $3.71.
Vallourec recognized
YOUNGSTOWN
Vallourec Star received the 2014 Environmental Stewardship Recycling Award at the Steel Manufacturers Association annual board meeting in May.
Vallourec was recognized for the results achieved at its new water-treatment facility.
The facility produces consistent, high-level water quality that is required in the company’s pipe-making and finishing processes.
Ribbon-cutting for floral shop

The Columbiana Area Chamber of Commerce celebrated a ribbon-cutting ceremony Tuesday at Wellman’s Florist and Gift Shop, 33 S. Main, to honor new owner Tammy Knox. The newly stocked florist shop is looking forward to offering the fine florals it’s known for, as well as introducing a country-western line for and an all-inclusive wedding cafe.
The shop is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday.
