MINERAL RIDGE

Weathersfield Township has established an impound lot, setting regulations and fees.

The impound lot will be at the township administration building at 1451 Prospect St. The fee will be $25 per day, and will be used for vehicles impounded by township police instead of the several other impound lots now used if a vehicle has to be towed.

Trustees and the police department have been discussing and investigating the opening of their own impound lot for a year, township Administrator David Rouan said.

Vehicles likely to be impounded are those in violation of parking and traffic laws and regulations and others that come into police custody because they were stolen, abandoned, illegally parked or are an obstruction to traffic or of which the police have acquired for custody for the protection of motor vehicles and their safe keeping.

Trustees also have authorized the administrator to purchase a new, zero-turn, Hustler Super Z Hyper drive 60-inch 35 HP Mower through the Ohio Department of Administrative Services cooperative purchasing program. The purchase price will be $11,668, and the authorized local dealer will be Baker Vehicle systems from Macedonia. The township will enter a lease/purchase agreement with with EverBank Commercial Finance for five years with annual payments of $2,586.

Assistant Fire Chief Ken Boring will receive an extra stipend of $2,000 during the next regular pay period for township employees. The stipend is being paid as a result of additional work and maintenance the assistant chief has done at the three fire stations over the past 18 months.

The chief will receive a salary increase from $7,000 to $9,000 effective June 1.

The salary increase is for additional work and maintenance that Boring does at the three fire stations.
