Campbell police make arrests at traffic stops

CAMPBELL

Police arrested a 20-year-old Youngstown man on multiple charges — including carrying concealed weapons, a fifth-degree felony — during a Monday evening traffic stop.

Askari H. Loury of Hudson Avenue also faces charges of prescription label required and reckless operation on streets. Police stopped Loury at about 8:20 p.m. Monday after noticing his car speeding on McCartney Road, and even losing its traction on all four wheels and skidding across the roadway. Loury told police that he was “just trying

to get away,” as someone had pulled a gun on him.

According to the report, officers then searched the car, finding two prescription pills and a loaded handgun. Loury was held without bond at the Mahoning County jail.

Also, a 36-year-old Youngstown man faces charges of possession of drugs and drug paraphernalia, along with driving under suspension and lacking a front license plate.

Police arrested Shawn M. Truman of Brownlee Avenue during a traffic stop at about 2 p.m. Monday. Police noticed a plastic bag of marijuana in plain view; officers confiscated the bag, which contained 4.8 grams of marijuana, as well as $31 in cash. They also observed several incoming text messages on his cell phone that implied Truman was either

selling or buying drugs.

Truman was released on his $5,750 bond.
