Man gets 16 years in prison for rape of young girl

YOUNGSTOWN

Zachary A. Walker, 21, of Tibbetts Wick Road, Girard, was sentenced by Judge John M. Durkin to 16 years in prison after he pleaded guilty to three counts each of rape and gross sexual imposition.

His crimes were committed against a young girl who was between 5 and 7 years old between July 2010 and August 2012.

Walker had been facing a possible life term on the rape counts because of the age of the victim.

He entered his guilty plea and was sentenced in Mahoning County Common Pleas Court this morning just before his jury trial would have begun.
