Junior Greatest players eligible to share $5,000 in scholarships

Greatest Golfer of the Valley junior competition ignites this week with Qualifiers No. 3 and 4 teeing off — Friday at Tam O’Shanter in Hermitage, Pa., and Monday at Salem Golf Club in Salem.

One cool sidelight of the Greatest competition is that all high school seniors and seniors-to-be can apply for a share in $5,000 in scholarships regardless of how they finish.

The HB Foundation has teamed up Power Bilt golf, Golf Headquarters and Greatest Golfer to make this available.

Eligibility is simple:

-- This Scholarship is open to current college bound members who have participated in Greatest.

-- Current Juniors entering their Senior year and Seniors who graduated High School during the current 2014 season qualify.

-- Applicants must have a 3.0 or better GPA.

Due to NCAA rules, scholarship winners will not receive cash directly.

Scholarship recipients are required to submit the name, address, and contact person of their college or university, so that the HB Foundation can send the funds to be held at the college in the name of the winner for future use.
