Police on patrol saw a man waving a gun out of a car in the 200 block of Hilton Avenue, where they conducted a stop.
Police found Jason N. Heard, 18, of Youngstown, wearing a black nylon shoulder holster. Under the passenger’s seat, where Heard was seated, police found a 40-caliber handgun and a box of live 38-special rounds. Police charged Heard with carrying a concealed weapon, receiving stolen property (the firearm) and possession of marijuana.
Under the driver’s seat occupied by Maurice Conyer, 30, of Youngstown, police found a semiautomatic handgun with one live 40-caliber bullet in the chamber and seven live rounds in a magazine. Conyer was charged with carrying a concealed weapon while under disability.
They were taken to Mahoning County jail and will appear in Youngstown municipal court today.
Facing drug charge
YOUNGSTOWN
Police charged Nelson Franklin, 38, of Youngstown with possession of drugs after an incident about 11:30 p.m. Saturday near International Towers, where police were called about a gunman near the bus-stop area.
Franklin matched the description, but police found no gun. They did find a clear plastic bag of suspected heroin.
He was taken to Mahoning County jail with a court date today.
I-680 disruption
YOUNGSTOWN
A police report indicated a 27-year-old male motorcyclist had a problem with steering and hit a barrier on Interstate 680 about 4 p.m. Sunday.
The report did not include anything about injuries. The incident caused a traffic delay.
Heroin possession
YOUNGSTOWN
Ralph Meta, 34, of Poland was charged with possession of heroin and possession of drug-abuse instruments after a vehicle accident Sunday morning at McGuffey Road and Berkley Avenue.
Meta was traveling west on McGuffey when he ran off the road and hit two utility poles.
Police found a capped, used needle and plastic bag of suspected heroin.
3 facing drug charges

Two men and a woman were arrested and taken to Mahoning County jail after an incident in the vicinity of the 1700 block of Logan Avenue about 8:20 p.m. Saturday. Police observed interaction between two groups in a known drug area.
Police charged Timothy Tervo, 33, of New Castle, Pa., with possession of dangerous drugs, drug-abuse instruments and drug paraphernalia. He had two used syringes on him along with pills and a suspected package of heroin, police said.
Tyrell L. Hollis, 20, of Youngstown, was charged with possession of drugs, heroin, possession of drug paraphernalia and obstructing official business. In the same incident, he fled the scene and an officer gave chase. A police dog alerted to narcotics, and police found a bag of suspected heroin on the ground.
Valerie A. Dieter, 35, of Youngstown was charged with possession of heroin, drug-abuse instruments and drug paraphernalia. When police requested her identification, she produced it but tried to hide her purse that contained a package of suspected heroin.
