The AT&T Foundation is presenting a $10,000 check to the Youngstown Business Incubator at 10 a.m. Monday.

The donation is in support of the new YBI and YSU initiative BIZ3D. BIZ3D is a summer-camp program targeted at high-school students providing them with an introduction to 3-D printing with an emphasis on entrepreneurship and business approaches to 3-D printing.

Business buys truck

Jay and Penny Summer, owners of two local FASTSIGNS centers, purchased a 35-foot bucket truck to bring their visual communications business to new heights. The bucket truck allows the FASTSIGN team to measure and install large signage projects with better ease and safety.

Expanding fleet

HARRISVILLE, pa.

Harrisville, Pa.-based crane rental company Industrial Truck & Crane, Inc. expanded its fleet with the acquisition of a second heavyweight lift system that will serve the cellular-communications, natural-gas and other regional industries.

Industrial Truck & Crane, Inc. also obtained the 350-ton Grove GMK 6350L long-reach crane to aid bridge construction, plant maintenance and heating, ventilation and air-conditioning companies that rent heavyweight lift systems.

New initiatives

Environmental Defense Fund welcomed the U.S. Department of Energy’s new initiatives aimed at improving the country’s natural-gas infrastructure by addressing emissions of methane, a climate-altering greenhouse gas leaking from equipment, pipelines and facilities used to develop and transport natural gas.

J&J withdraws fibroid device

WASHINGTON

Johnson & Johnson is asking surgeons not to use a line of devices for removing growths from the uterus amid regulators’ growing concern that the electronic surgical tools raise the risk of spreading cancer to other parts of the body.

In April, J&J suspended sales of the devices, known as laparoscopic power morcellators, after the Food and Drug Administration discouraged doctors from using them. Surgeons use the devices to treat painful fibroids, either by removing the growths themselves or the entire uterus.

J&J said Wednesday it is conducting a worldwide withdrawal of all its morcellators still on the market. The company cited an FDA meeting earlier this month that reinforced “the complexity of this issue.”

FDA is weighing regulatory actions to reduce the risk of cancer spread.
