LOWELLVILLE

Lowellville school board amended the time of its special board meeting today that will be in the library/media center of 52 Rocket Place.

The time has been changed to 6:45 p.m.

The board will enter into executive session to consider the appointment, employment of a public employee or official.

Streets to close

YOUNGSTOWN

Many streets in Youngstown will be closed from 6 a.m. to noon Saturday to accommodate the African-American Male Wellness Walk/Run of the Mahoning Valley.

Streets to be closed include Front Street between Walnut and Market Streets; Market between Front and Woodland Avenue; Woodland between Market and Oak Hill Avenue; Ridge Street between Market and Oak Hill; Glenwood Avenue between Parkview Avenue and Lake Drive; Dutton Drive and Warner Streets closed; Oak Hill between High and Chalmers streets; Cleveland and Marion Street, both closed between Oak Hill and Hillman; and Hillman between Cleveland and Marion Streets.

Some secondary roads also may be affected for a brief time as the run/walk passes by.

Copper pipe stolen

BOARDMAN

Police are investigating a case of breaking and entering in which $600 worth of copper pipe was stolen from a Terrace Drive residence.

According to a police report filed Tuesday, an employee of Country Homes and Remodeling came to check on the foreclosed property, which is owned by Bank of America, and discovered all the copper pipe missing.

The property had last been checked June 14, but the person filing the report believes the copper was stolen before June 14 because the property had since been secured, and there were no signs of forced entry.

Scrap tire drive

MINERAL RIDGE

Weathersfield Township trustees have once again been awarded nearly $2,400 in grant funds from the Geauga-Trumbull Waste District for the annual 2014 scrap tire drive, which starts Monday.

Curbside collection will run through Aug. 8.

There is a limit of four tires (off rims) per household. Large truck tires will not be accepted.

Residents also can drop off their tires between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m. during the collection week at the township administration building, 1451 Prospect St.

Robbery reported

WARREN

A 26-year-old Union Street Southwest woman reported being robbed and assaulted as she walked along Deerfield Avenue Southwest to her home at 8:15 p.m. Tuesday.

The woman said a man she knows started cursing at her, then got behind her, put her into a headlock and choked her.

He dragged her into his house on Deerfield, took her purse and threw her to the ground, she said.

She said she blacked out for a few minutes, then ran away while the man was in another room.

Police went to the home on Deerfield and found some of her items inside but did not find the man.
