POLICE CALLS
A summary of recent criminal activity in Girard, Hubbard and Liberty:
GIRARD
July 26
Arrest: Officers responded to a possibly intoxicated person in the 500 block of Powers Avenue, then charged Timothy P. Gatzy, 44, with disorderly conduct while intoxicated in public. Gatzy, of Sharon-Stewart Road, Hubbard, also was wanted on an outstanding Trumbull County 911 center warrant.
Arrest: Authorities who received information that a vehicle had crashed into a garage in the 400 block of Church Hill Road charged 26-year-old Kyle D. Cosma of Patricia Drive, Girard, with operating a vehicle impaired, operating a motor vehicle without reasonable control and failing to stop after an accident, all misdemeanors. Cosma’s blood-alcohol count was .198, more than twice the legal limit, a report stated.
July 27
Assault: Police responded to a possible stabbing in the 20 block of East Second Street, where a man told them another man had forcibly closed a door, resulting in a slight injury to the accuser.
Theft: An East Liberty Street man discovered a $50 self-propelled lawn mower missing.
Criminal damaging: An East Kline Street woman saw that a motorist had driven through her yard and struck her vehicle’s rear bumper, causing minor damage.
Criminal mischief: A man in the 700 block of Trumbull Avenue reported damage to a portion of his aluminum siding.
July 28
Identity fraud: A North State Street man learned that his name and date of birth had been used without consent to obtain a prescription at a Girard pharmacy for Oxycodone, a narcotic commonly used to treat moderate to severe pain.
Menacing: Police answered a disturbance call in the 1100 block of North Highland Avenue, where a man said he had been threatened with bodily harm.
Menacing: A man reported that a woman cut him off as he jogged on U.S. Route 422 and jumped out of her vehicle, then yelled at and threatened him.
July 29
Burglary: To a residence in the 20 block of Broadview Avenue, though it appeared nothing was disturbed or missing.
Criminal mischief: Someone in the 400 block of East Liberty Street struck a vehicle with a BB, leaving a small dent in the passenger-side door.
Theft: A cable box and a computer modem were among items stolen from a truck in the 100 block of Ohio Street, for an estimated loss of $1,350.
Theft: A $15 mini flashlight was removed from a car in the 1100 block of Woodlawn Avenue.
Theft: Two phone chargers and roughly $25 were taken from a vehicle in the 100 block of Crumlin Avenue.
Theft: Someone stole a global-positioning-system unit and a small amount of change from a car in the 100 block of Morris Avenue.
HUBBARD
July 24
Arrest: Authorities in Youngstown arrested 29-year-old Randall L. Poindexter of First Street, Masury. He was wanted on a warrant charging failure to appear in court.
July 25
Complaint: A Hubbard woman gave police a tip about a social-media application that reportedly showed photographs of nude and partially clad women. Authorities also contacted the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation to assist, a report said.
July 26
Animal complaint: A distraught Erie Street woman told officers her next-door neighbor’s two pit bulls entered her yard and one of them attacked her dog, resulting in her animal’s having to be euthanized.
Arrest: Police got a report about someone breaking windows to a residence in the 100 block of Mackey Street before they charged Shawn M. Ballard, 34, of Mackey, Hubbard, with aggravated menacing, disorderly conduct and resisting arrest. Concerned that someone might be injured amid broken windows and destroyed furniture, authorities entered the home and were greeted by an intoxicated Ballard, who continually swore at them, refused to comply and, after having been arrested, threatened to shoot an officer, a report showed.
July 27
Possible recovered property: A 2006 Dodge Charger that a Charles Street man had reported stolen was thought to have been found during a traffic stop in Youngstown from which the driver purportedly fled on foot.
Theft: A Hazel Street man realized someone had siphoned gasoline from his car.
July 28
Harassment: An elderly Timber Circle woman said she received a suspicious call from a woman claiming to represent Time Warner Cable.
July 29
Criminal damaging: A dent was discovered in a garage door in the 100 block of Corll Street, with several pieces of broken glass nearby. Apparently, someone had backed a vehicle into the door and did $900 in damage.
LIBERTY
July 24
Breaking and entering: Someone broke into a garage on Overbrook Avenue and removed a $250 chain saw.
Criminal damaging: A car in the 1400 block of Townsend Avenue was found with two slashed tires. Damage came to $200.
Theft: A .32-caliber semiautomatic firearm was taken from a home in the 5700 block of Logan Arms Drive.
Criminal damaging: A double-garage door in the 100 block of Catherine Street sustained $,1,100 in damage.
Breaking and entering: A $300 saw was taken from a garage in the 300 block of Overbrook Avenue.
Criminal damaging: A Newark, Del., man reportedly used a black marker to write obscenities on a door to a room at a Motor Inn Drive motel before fleeing in a vehicle.
Arrest: Robert McQueen of Roosevelt Drive, Youngstown, was arrested after police pulled him over near Colonial Drive. The 28-year-old McQueen was wanted on a Warren warrant.
Harassment: An East Montrose Street woman said she received a series of unwanted text messages.
July 25
Arrest: A township girl, 15, was taken into custody at Belmont Pines Hospital, 615 Church Hill-Hubbard Road, on a detainer from Trumbull County Family Court.
Arrest: Keylynn L. Taylor, 24, of Kendall Avenue, Campbell, was given a summons charging driving under suspension and possession of criminal tools after having been stopped near Northgate Road.
Harassment: A Fifth Avenue woman said a 34-year-old Youngstown woman threatened over the phone to harm her.
Theft: A woman discovered her wallet and several credit cards missing from her car while in the 400 block of Arbor Circle.
Identity fraud: An elderly Logan Arms Drive woman found out her personal information had been used without authorization to obtain a credit card.
Arrest: Police in the 3100 block of Hadley Avenue took into custody 34-year-old James R. Larosa of Hadley, Liberty, who was wanted on a felony warrant.
July 26
Theft: A man reported his $100 mountain bike stolen while at a Goldie Road big-box store.
July 27
Assault: A Park Avenue girl told police she was pushed and struck in the head with a cellphone during an argument at a Belmont Avenue cafe. A charge likely was pending against a 24-year-old Youngstown woman.
Theft: A $100 GPS device and a portable DVD player were removed from a car in the 500 block of Murray Hill Drive.
Criminal damaging: Someone tossed eggs and damaged a portion of vinyl siding on the back of a residence in the 70 block of Euclid Boulevard.
Theft: A Youngstown man staying at a Motor Inn Drive motel discovered $500 had been removed from his pants pocket as he slept.
July 28
Arrest: Youngstown police in the 2700 block of Belmont Avenue handed 27-year-old Terrence D. Johnson to township authorities. Johnson, of West Dennick Avenue, Youngstown, was wanted on an outstanding warrant.
Arrest: Walter Lacey, 28, no address listed, was picked up in Youngstown on a township warrant charging failure to appear in court.
