PITTSBURGH (AP) — Two of three city men found not guilty in the stabbing and attempted carjacking of Pittsburgh Steelers lineman Mike Adams have been sentenced for fleeing prosecution.
Dquay Means, 27, who spent more than 11 months in jail before he was acquitted in April, will spend three years on probation. Means hid for days before surrendering on charges from the incident on June 1, 2013.
Twenty-seven-year-old Jerrell Whitlock was sentenced to 18 to 36 months in prison because he fled to Florida before he was captured. He’ll get credit for 14 months he spent jailed before the April trial.
Allegheny County prosecutors argued Adams was stabbed during an attempted carjacking about 3 a.m., but defense attorneys say a fight began after Adams knocked food out of a third suspect’s hand outside an Asian restaurant. That man was also acquitted and didn’t flee prosecution.
