The township will have a scrap-tire curbside collection for Howland residents Aug. 9.

Residents may place a maximum of eight passenger tires with no rims at the curb before 8 a.m. Aug. 9. The pickup is funded with a grant from the Geauga-Trumbull Solid Waste Management District.

Farm Bureau set to meet in Niles

The Trumbull County Farm Bureau will recognize last year’s accomplishments and adopt policies for the coming year at its annual meeting at 6 p.m. Aug. 14 at Vernon’s Cafe, 720 Youngstown-Warren Road.

Guest speaker is Tony Seegers, director of state policy with the Ohio Farm Bureau Federation. The meeting will focus on finalizing policy suggestions to be carried to the Ohio Farm Bureau annual meeting in December.

Tickets are $15 each and are available until Aug. 7 by calling the Farm Bureau office at 440-437-8700.

Volunteers needed for wellness event

It is not too late to volunteer for the second African-American Male Wellness Walk/Run of the Mahoning Valley on Saturday beginning at the Covelli Centre downtown on Front Street.

Health screenings begin at 7 a.m., with the walk/run stepping off at 9 a.m.

Dr. Lashale D. Pugh, coordinator of the volunteers, is looking for people to show up as early as 5:30 a.m. for setup and throughout the day. Yard Sales Days in North Jackson

NORTH JACKSON

North Jackson Citizens Association is having its annual Community Wide Yard Sales Days on Friday and Saturday. More than 200 vendors will take part this year, the most in the sale’s history. A new location also has been added at 10748 E. Mahoning Ave.

It has grown since 2000 to include the entire community. Businesses offer yard-sale specials. Residents list their sales on a 16-page map booklet.
