City man faces weapons charge

YOUNGSTOWN — Police arrested a man on a weapons charge Saturday morning after officers say he threatened a woman.

Officers were called to the 400 block of Ferndale Avenue about 10:30 a.m. where a woman told them a man she later identified as Jordan Kennedy, 23, of Youngstown, had put a knife to her throat and pulled a gun while they were drinking and celebrating his birthday.

Reports said the officers were called to the woman’s home in the 3900 block of Helena Avenue about an hour earlier for an alarm but the woman told them she was fine. She later told police she lied because Kennedy was next to her, reports said.

Officers went to the Helena Avenue home, found Kennedy, and arrested him. He faces charges of domestic violence, being a felon in possession of a firearm and unlawful restraint.

Reports said officers found a .40-caliber Glock 23 semiautomatic pistol in a closet that was loaded with a 15-round clip. Kennedy was taken to Mahoning County jail.
