BOARDMAN

There were no injuries from a house fire Sunday night in the township.

Boardman fire officials received a call at 8:13 p.m. of a confirmed house fire at 1776 Daffodil Trail in a subdivision off Western Reserve Road.

The family was not home during the blaze.

Once at the home, Boardman firefighters called for support from Western Reserve Joint Fire District and Springfield Township Fire Department. Boardman Fire Capt. Bill Glaser said the Cardinal Joint Fire District was also standing by at Boardman’s station, but didn’t come to the fire. He said the reason for the support was that crews “had a large volume of fire when we showed up.”

The cause of the fire is under investigation by Boardman’s fire investigator.

Extensive damage could be seen on the first floor of the large home.

Glaser said most of the fire was confined to the first floor and that Sunday’s storms hampered crews. “It made it worse. You get into slip and falls. We were worried about the lightning more than anything,” Glaser said.
