Exhibit at mall lets kids explore careers

YOUNGSTOWN

Children visiting Southern Park Mall can explore their career dreams while enjoying fun, interactive games at PNC’s Mobile Learning Adventure, a traveling exhibit highlighting the importance of early education.

The “When I Grow Up” station encourages kids to dress up as various professionals and have their picture superimposed on a career-related background.

Other activities under the two bright-orange tents include two touch-screen kiosks and the “Making Choices” activity board to help children learn about “wants” vs. “needs.”

The exhibit is free and open to the public. It will take place from noon to 6 p.m. Aug. 16.

Feds probe Dodge Charger complaints

DETROIT

The U.S. government’s road-safety agency is investigating complaints about engine stalling and alternator failures in Dodge Charger sedans.

The probe covers about 123,000 Chargers from the 2011 and 2012 model-years.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration says it has 14 complaints of alternator failure and stalling.

All the cases happened while the cars were going 40 miles per hour or more.

In one case, a car stopped in traffic with smoke coming from the alternator, which generates electricity to recharge the battery and run other devices. No injuries have been reported to the agency.

Chrysler says it’s cooperating in the probe. Investigations can lead to recalls, but there haven’t been any so far.
