A summary of recent criminal activity in Girard, Liberty and Hubbard:
GIRARD
July 21
Theft: An $80 mountain bike was removed from a residence in the 300 block of East Liberty Street.
July 22
Menacing: A Verona Avenue man said his brother threatened him during a disagreement regarding family matters.
Breaking and entering: A garage in the 300 block of East Wilson Avenue was broken into, though police found no signs of forced entry. Among items stolen were golf clubs and shoes, a leaf blower and various tools, for a $1,900 loss.
Criminal mischief: A motorist in the 400 block of East Liberty Street reported someone shot at his vehicle with a BB or pellet gun.
July 24
Breaking and entering: Someone broke into A.G. Snips & Curls, 29 S. State St., via a rear door.
LIBERTY
July 17
Breaking and entering: While investigating suspicious activity near state Route 193, police discovered a shattered front window at a BP gas station, 2703 Belmont Ave., from which miscellaneous merchandise had been stolen. Beforehand, officers saw four people in their mid- to late teens running from the area.
Drugs: Police on Belmont Avenue pulled over 28-year-old Michael E. Jackson of Shalisma Avenue, Youngstown, and charged him with marijuana possession and driving under suspension. Jackson had a small bag of suspected marijuana, authorities said.
Theft: A Girard woman reported a vintage 1930s stereo, a coal burner and an industrial fan missing from a Trumbull Avenue storage unit.
Theft: Jesse L. Carter, 59, of Stocker Avenue, Youngstown, was charged after being accused of taking a taxi to a Belmont Avenue motel but failing to pay the fare.
Domestic violence: Cy B. Edison, 23, of Church Hill-Hubbard Road, Liberty, was charged with the crime during a traffic stop and after a woman alleged Edison had struck her face and head, then pushed her. Police found torn clothing on the accuser, who also told them she had jumped from a second-floor window to escape, a report said.
Theft: A worker for a Belmont Avenue business reported his wallet stolen.
July 18
Arrest: Sharon Sanders, 53, of Townsend Avenue, Youngstown, was charged with disorderly conduct after a plainclothes officer at a Logan Way gas station alleged Sanders yelled at him and failed to calm down when the officer refused to accept money to give her a ride.
Theft: Dennis E. Mosley III, 19, of Hadley Avenue, Liberty, was charged with failure to pay his $32 food bill, after leaving Denny’s Restaurant, 4020 Belmont Ave.
July 19
Arrest: Police responded to a car having struck a Belmont Avenue building before charging 42-year-old Darren L. Austin of Merwin-Chase Road, Brookfield, with one felony count of failing to comply with police as well as one misdemeanor count each of resisting arrest, operating a vehicle impaired and leaving the scene of an accident. After fleeing from authorities, Austin backed up and nearly struck a cruiser before officers had to forcibly remove him from his vehicle, a report said.
Menacing: An employee with Walmart, 200 Goldie Road, told officers a woman threatened to pursue legal action, reportedly after having been issued a criminal-trespassing warning, and made a veiled threat.
Recovered property: A debit card was found in front of a residence in 4700 block of Fifth Avenue.
Theft: Four counterweights were removed from a set of railroad-track crossing gates near Logangate Road.
July 20
Aggravated menacing: A Will-o-Wood Drive man told authorities a neighbor’s former boyfriend thrice threatened him with bodily harm, then said he would commit a sexual act against the accuser’s daughter.
Domestic violence: A township girl, 15, faced a felony charge after her pregnant older sister alleged the teen had kicked her right hand, causing swelling and bruising, and struck her stomach during an argument.
July 21
Arrest: A traffic stop near Logan Way resulted in 45-year-old Greg S. Cordy Sr.’s arrest. Cordy, of Warner Road, Hubbard, was wanted on a theft charge.
Arrest: Hubbard police relinquished custody of Alex Rodriguez, 28, of Valley Street, Youngstown. He was wanted on an outstanding warrant.
Counterfeit: Four phony $50 bills were passed at a Speedway gas station, 4210 Belmont Ave.
Breaking and entering: Someone entered a shed in the 200 block of Euclid Boulevard before removing a $250 lawn mower.
Fraud: A Virginia Trail man discovered his wife’s credit card had been used to make unauthorized transactions at various township locations.
Arrest: Youngstown State University police in the 2700 block of Belmont Avenue handed Shayla M. McCullough of McBride Street, Youngstown, to township authorities. McCullough, 29, was wanted on a warrant accusing her of failing to appear in court.
July 22
Arrests: Liberty authorities picked up Myran K. Clark, 26, of Roosevelt Drive and Stephen Slade, 46, of Woodside Avenue. The two Youngstown men were wanted on warrants.
Recovered property: A 2003 Ford truck was found abandoned in a field near Logan Way after having been reported stolen in the township.
July 23
Arrest: Police at the Mahoning County jail booked 32-year-old Jerahn N. Johnson of Cassius Street, Youngstown, on a felony Girard Municipal Court warrant.
Criminal damaging: Someone in the 100 block of Catherine Street placed two large dents in a garage door, causing $1,100 in damage.
Drugs: Authorities got a tip about a person reportedly trying to fill a prescription at Walmart using stolen forms before charging 34-year-old Martha E. Sandino-Rios with one felony count each of receiving stolen property, possession of dangerous drugs and deception to obtain a dangerous drug. Sandino-Rios, of McGuffey Road, Youngstown, also had various prescription pills in her pocket and purse, a report stated.
Theft: A semiautomatic handgun was taken from a home in the 5700 block of Logan Arms Drive.
Arrest: Police dealt with a disturbance at a Belmont Avenue motel before taking Amy J. Begeot of Plymouth Avenue, Girard, into custody. The 28-year-old Begeot was wanted on a Girard Municipal Court warrant.
HUBBARD
July 17
Recovered property: A debit card was found in an automated-teller machine at a state Route 304 bank.
Harassment: A Youngstown woman on Mackey Street told police her former boyfriend’s mother has sent her a series of unwanted text messages.
Theft: The license plates were missing from a car in the 400 block of East Liberty Street.
July 18
Arrest: Police arrested 28-year-old John D. Rannard at his East Liberty Street residence. The Hubbard man was wanted on a Struthers warrant charging assault.
Possible theft: A Warren man reported his wallet lost or stolen while at a Youngstown-Hubbard Road gas station.
July 19
Theft: A James Place woman discovered three rings, including a wedding band, missing from her home. The loss came to $1,200.
July 20
Domestic violence: Christopher L. Ferguson, 33, of Watson Street, Lowellville, faced domestic-violence and criminal-damaging charges after his stepfather, of Oak Knoll Drive, alleged Ferguson had punched his face in an unprovoked attack. Also, the accuser’s car had a broken rearview mirror, he reported.
Harassment: A Mock Street man said a 19-year-old former friend continually makes and sends him unwanted calls and text messages.
Unauthorized use of a vehicle: A warrant was pending against a Hubbard man, 52, after a Jacobs Road woman said her 1983 Datsun vehicle was missing and had been used without permission.
July 21
Arrest: A traffic stop on Youngstown-Hubbard Road resulted in the arrest of 29-year-old Alex Rodriguez of Valley Street, Youngstown, who was wanted on a warrant charging failure to appear in court.
July 22
Vandalism: Someone broke a water-trough system and used the pipes to damage a vending machine in the 400 block of Myron Street.
