Sentenced for theft

WARREN

Roderick L. Lewis Jr., 24, of Stewart Drive Northwest, a community volunteer and former candidate for the Warren Board of Education, was sentenced to 60 days in the Trumbull County jail Wednesday for stealing from an elderly woman.

Lewis, known for school-supply giveaways he and his family carried out in recent years, pleaded guilty earlier to five theft-related felony offenses.

Howland police said he impersonated a police officer while talking to the 92-year-old victim and charged more than $2,100 on her credit cards in June 2013.

He will be on probation for five years and must pay $540 in restitution to the victim.

2 women accused of assault on 2

WARREN

Two women were arraigned Wednesday in Warren Municipal Court after they were accused of bringing a baseball bat Tuesday evening to a house on Pacific Place Northwest and assaulting a man and woman.

The victims said Candice M. Fox, 22, of Westgate Drive, Newton Falls, and Annica L. Fox, 20, of Belmont Street in Warren, came to the house at 6 p.m. to fight over a male.

Candice Fox forced her way inside the house, while Annica used a bat to break windows, the victims said. A neighbor videotaped the incident, police said.

The male victim tried to stop the assault and suffered a bite in the arm. The female victim also suffered minor injuries.

The Foxes are charged with burglary, and a judge set bond at $100,000 for each. If convicted, they could face eight years in prison.
