City police investigate burglaries

Police are investigating three burglaries that were reported earlier this week.

At a home in the 4800 block of Youngstown-Poland Road, someone kicked in a window air conditioner and took two large-screen televisions, a DVD/TV system and several DVDs and video games sometime between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. Monday.

At a home in the first block of South Evanston Avenue, police said someone took furniture, coins and baseball cards and put them in an adjoining vacant home sometime over the weekend. Police found a broken window and a chair under a window to the home that was broken into. The owner got his property back, reports said. Police were called there about 11:40 a.m. Monday.

At a home in the 3400 block of Powers Way Avenue, a woman said she returned home about 4 p.m. Monday and saw a strange car in her drive, and the car backed up and drove away. The woman found a door kicked in and about 30 assorted earrings gone and a bedroom ransacked.
