Rise Pies to open pizza shop Sept. 2

Staff report

YOUNGSTOWN

A Boardman-based pizza company is opening one of its first locations in Boardman.

Rise Pies is scheduled to open Sept. 2, taking over the former locations of Peet’s Coffee and Tea and Coldstone Creamery in the Shops at Boardman Park.

The restaurant will use dough and sauce made fresh daily and locally sourced vegetables.

“The pizza found in Youngstown is some of the best in the country. It’s what we’re known for locally and can be nationally,” Eddie Muransky, president of Rise Pies, said in a statement. “So we wanted to create a dining experience that combined the pace of a fast, casual restaurant with the taste of Youngstown and bring it to a national audience.”

Muransky is working with well-known local chef and restaurateur Vernon Cesta, owner of Vernon’s Cafe and part-owner with Ed Moses of V2. Moses also is involved with Rise Pies.

Rise Pies is part of the Muransky Companies and Chestnut Land Co., which is the nation’s largest franchisee of Auntie Anne’s pretzels. Eddie Muransky’s father, Edward Muransky, is chairman of the board and founder of the Muransky Companies.

The pizzas will start at $4.99 and cook in ovens capable of reaching 900 degrees, which will cook the pizzas in two to three minutes.

Rise Pies is set to open its second location in Sarasota, Fla., in October and has lease contracts lined up around the country.

The company is planning to host two job fairs to staff the Boardman location. The dates for those fairs will be announced later.
