Arby’s to kick off its 50th anniversary

Arby’s will be kicking off its 50th anniversary celebration in the Mahoning Valley, home of the first Arby’s restaurant and a community that has been at the center of the brand’s heritage since 1964.

In honor of this celebration, and in partnership with the Arby’s Foundation, local Arby’s restaurants will host a “Buy One Give One” offer Monday through Friday, during which time local Arby’s restaurants will donate a meal to Second Harvest Food Bank of Mahoning Valley for every meal that’s purchased throughout the week.

Additionally, 10 percent of sales Wednesday will be donated to Second Harvest Food Bank of Mahoning Valley. The Arby’s Foundation mobile tour truck also will be at Arby’s Restaurant #1119, located at 4321 Mahoning Ave. in Warren, all day with games and activities.

Hometown Urgent Care plans event

NILES

Hometown Urgent Care in Niles will have an open house from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday.

The event is designed to introduce members of the business community to the services available at the local urgent-care center. Hometown Urgent Care offers occupational health services ranging from pre-employment physicals and drug testing to treating on-the-job injuries and managing workers’ compensation claims.

The Niles branch is located at 1997 Niles-Cortland Road.

Refreshments and prizes will be included at the open house.

Applications taken for leadership class

YOUNGSTOWN

Applications for the Leadership Mahoning Valley class for 2014-15 may be submitted through Friday.

The nine-month program includes nine daylong sessions that focus on major community systems. The sessions provide the class with the opportunity to share learning experiences and interact with other leaders.

Tuition cost is $2,000 and includes meals, admission fees and program supplies. There are 40 participants selected.

Gateways schedules ‘Employee First’

YOUNGSTOWN

Gateways Industries, a vocational and day-service provider for those with disabilities, will have an “Employee First” initiative to look for business and employment opportunities. The event will take place from 3 to 5 p.m. Aug. 6 at 945 W. Rayen Ave.

Current Gateways projects, volunteer opportunities and a sharing of information will be discussed at the event.
