Drivers beware: OVI checkpoints tonight in Howland, Weathersfield


SOUTHINGTON

The Ohio State Highway Patrol, in conjunction with the Howland Township Police Department and the Weathersfield Township Police Department are conducting two operating a vehicle impaired (OVI) checkpoints between 10 p.m. today and 3 a.m. Sunday on North Road in Howland Township and state Route 46 in Weathersfield Township.

The OVI checkpoints, funded by federal grant funds, are planned to deter and intercept impaired drivers. The checkpoints will also be held in conjunction with nearby saturation patrols to aggressively combat alcohol-related injury and fatal crashes, said Sgt. Jason G. Bonar, assistant commander of Warren OSHP Post 78 in Southington.
