Four arrested in multistate burglaries

COITSVILLE

Township police arrested four people in a multistate burglary crime spree.

Arrested Thursday were Brian Dragos, 35, of Mineral Ridge; Dianna Howell, 31, of Warren; Scott Wheeland, 38, of Niles; and Dawna Sayers, 32, of Niles. All four were staying at King’s Motel on McCartney Road in Lowellville, where police said they found numerous stolen items from homes in Ohio and Pennsylvania.

Police became aware of the four suspects Tuesday, when a car driven by two of them swerved left of center into the path of a Coitsville police cruiser on Oak Street Extension. The car, which officers recognized as being involved in several burglaries, was found to contain stolen items.

Police said the suspects have heroin addictions. Dragos, Howell and Wheeland are being held without bond in the Mahoning County jail. Sayers is being held without bond in the Lawrence County jail.

Suspected heroin found on woman at jail

Corrections officers found a bag of suspected heroin in the buttocks of a Boardman woman who was being booked into the Mahoning County jail on a warrant about 1:35 p.m. Wednesday.

Reports said officers arrested Ashley Perry, 29, during a traffic stop at Warren and Rosedale avenues because she had a failure-to-appear warrant from municipal court. Reports said she told officers she had nothing on her but the suspected heroin was discovered during the booking process, reports said.

Perry had an extra charge of illegal conveyance of drugs into a detention facility added to her warrant.

Two cited for drugs, walking in road

Police cited two people on drug charges and for walking in the roadway after they were seen walking on a South Side street at about 2:55 p.m. Wednesday.

Reports said Eric Arnold, 29, and Cathryn Peters, 32, were stopped on Warren and Rosedale avenues and questioned by police because they were not on a sidewalk, which is a violation of a city ordinance.

Peters had a needle in her bra and two burnt spoons with suspected heroin residue and a suspected marijuana cigar in her purse, reports said. Reports said Arnold admitted the marijuana was his. He was cited for possession of marijuana. Peters was cited for possession of drug paraphernalia. Both were cited for walking in the roadway and released after they were issued their citations.

Charged after fight

YOUNGSTOWN

Police arrested a man on disorderly conduct and drug charges after they were leaving the scene of a fight about noon Wednesday.

Reports said Sheade Robinson, 19, of Youngstown, charged a group of people after officers had just quelled a fight in the 600 block of Fairgreen Avenue when an argument flared.

Reports said Robinson took a fighting stance and was arrested. When he was searched, police found a bag of suspected crack cocaine in his pockets and a charge of possession of drugs/crack cocaine was added. He was taken to the Mahoning County jail.

Salem waterline break closes roads Thursday

SALEM

A waterline break left the majority of the city without water for a little more than two hours Thursday night.

Salem police said there was a major line break at New Garden Avenue and Prospect Street about 5:15 p.m. Thursday that affected the majority of the city. It was repaired by about 7:50 p.m., and there is no boil order in effect.

Road crews were out Thursday night repairing damage to the road from the break. New Garden Avenue was closed from Prospect Street to Mullen Street for the repair work.

Authorities encouraged residents to run their water to flush out any dirty water.
