Firestone defeats Canfield swimmers


The Firestone Area Swim team defeated the Canfield Swim and Tennis Club 315-185, which was Canfield’s first defeat of the season. Fueling Firestone’s success was a powerful line-up of swimmers from all parts of Mahoning county and 19 false starts by Canfield.

Turning in strong performances for CSTC were triple first place finishers Cullen Brady, James Dietz, Connor Brady and Daniel Bogen, double first place winners Nolan Williard, Luke Dietz, Ty Schaub, Bobby Kutsch, Jason Paris, Alec Gaetano and Matthew Bogen.

The top performers for freestyle include Vita Kelty, Ben Herrmann, Natalie Reese, Elle Dawson, Morgan Cleevely, Brianna O’Malley and Kyle Anderson. The top performers in the backstroke include Gianni Marucci, Sachin Nallapaneni, Madison Cleevely, Gabriella Pantelakis, Nolan Williard, Riley Wilkins, Joe Klepec, Miles Johnson, Mackenzie Hammond, Jonathan Gant, Maggie Beistel and Jared Rothbauer. The top performers for the breaststroke include Landon Palotsee, Madison Murphy, Riley Kinkade, Lauren Fitzgerald, Santino Marucci, Gina Landers and Bobby Kutsch. The top performers in the butterfly include Mallory Hughes, Gianni Marucci, Anthony Zoccali, Luke Dietz, Elle Dawson, Joe Klepec, Mackenzie Hammond, Cullen Brady, Maggie Beistel, Connor Brady and Alec Gaetano.

The girls 100-yard freestyle relay winners included Sarah Klepec, Eva Johnson, Madeline McCartney and Madison Cleevely.

The girls 200-yard freestyle relay winners included Maya Marucci, Riley Wilkins, Isabella Kelty and Marissa Landers.

The boys 200-yard freestyle relay winners (11- and 12-years-old) include Miles Johnson, Jonas Epp, Matthew Peckman and Donny Lyons.

The boys 200 freestyle relay winners (13-18 years-old) include Bobby Kutsch, JJ Paris, James Dietz, Jonathan Gant, Kyle Anderson, Alec Gaetano, Drew Bennett and Daniel Bogen.
