Boardman sends two to OHSAA meet

The Boardman Boys track team sent two athletes to The OHSAA track and field championship meet at The Ohio State University. Representing the Spartans were seniors Alan Burns and Mark Hadley.

Hadley achieved All-Ohio honors by placing third in the 3200-meter run in a season best time of 9:06. Ahead of Hadley were Chardon’s Nick Elswick and Kyle Mau of Hudson. Burns finished 13th overall in the 1600 in a time of 4:21. Both athletes were awarded Academic All –Ohio by the Ohio Association of Track and Cross Country Coaches.

“Both Alan and Mark have had outstanding careers at Boardman and have represented our program, school and community with class,” explained Spartan Head coach John Phillips. “Certainly they will be missed next year, but the impact they have had and the example they have set on this program will be forever remembered.”

Hadley and Burns will be joined by senior Justin Maroni, sophomore Brendon Lucas and freshman Sheldon Broyles at the New Balance Outdoor National Championships.

Hadley will compete in the 5K and the distance medley relay, Burns will compete in the 1600 and distance medley relay, Maroni and Lucas will also be a part of the distance medley relay and Broyles will compete in the freshman 100-meter dash.
