Downtown Youngstown company looks to expand

A downtown computer-software company will start a $577,500 expansion project shortly that will increase the number of its full-time employees from six to 46 in three years.

The city’s board of control approved a proposal Thursday to give $50,000 to SalesKatz Inc., located in the Youngstown Business Incubator.

The company would receive the money, from the city’s business initiative program, after the project is done, which is expected to be in December, said Tom DeAngelo, the city’s economic development coordinator.

SalesKatz is planning to invest $577,500 to develop software that focuses on sales leads for companies, DeAngelo said.

The company started in 2008 in Cleveland and moved to Youngstown in August 2013.

The company, which employs six workers, plans to add eight more employees a year after the expansion. It expects to add another 15 workers in the second year, and 17 in the third year after the expansion.
