Staff report

NEWTON FALLS

The body of the 21-year-old son of a man, who died during a fishing trip, was recovered.

The body was found at 8:25 a.m. Monday in a pond off Miller Graber Road, just east of Newton Falls, a Newton Falls emergency dispatcher confirmed.

The son is Anthony Harris Jr., and his 48-year-old father, whose body was found about 7 p.m. Sunday, is Anthony Harris Sr. The two are from Youngstown.

How the two men drowned hasn’t been determined.

The younger Harris is a former football player for Youngstown Christian School, and his father was employed by RG Steel.

The two went fishing about 11 a.m. Saturday.

Two juveniles told law enforcement about 8 p.m. that day that there was a problem after they saw a pickup truck near Rankin Pond and a canoe partially in the water.

Dragging crews from four fire departments found the father’s body about 20 to 30 yards offshore about 7 p.m. Sunday.

Search crews had to stop because of darkness. The search resumed early Monday.
