COLUMBIANA COUNTY State board releases $500K for housing for disabled

The state Controlling Board released $500,000 Monday for housing for disabled residents in two communities in Columbiana County.

The funds will go to the Columbiana County Mental Health Clinic for the purchase of a property and construction of eight apartments in Lisbon and a new duplex near East Liverpool.

The units “will provide safe, affordable and permanent supportive housing for 10 single adults who have mental-health disabilities and/or substance-abuse disorders who are homeless and have had difficulty remaining stable in the community,” according to documents.

In other business Monday, the lawmaker panel released nearly $62,000 for a roof replacement at the Newton Falls Readiness Center in Trumbull County.

According to documents, the National Guard facility was built in 1998, and the roof is 16 years old.

Kalkreuth Roofing of Delaware County submitted the low bid for the work.
