Penn State police add patrols after kidnap claim

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. (AP) — Penn State police say they’re adding uniformed officers to patrol the campus at night after a female student reported she was forced into a car before two men tried to sexually assault her.

Police say the woman reported the incident Tuesday, but claims it occurred about 1 a.m. Saturday as she walked on a campus road near Simmons Hall.

Police Chief Tyrone Parham says police have interviewed people in the area around that time, and were also reviewing security video. Police have added auxiliary officers and personnel to escort students through this weekend, so they won’t have to cross the campus alone.

The woman tells police two men forced her into the vehicle and stopped a short distance away, and tried to sexually assault her outside the vehicle before she ran away.
