Flavor Flav in court

HEMPSTEAD, N.Y.

A New York judge has released Flavor Flav without bail in his speeding case.

State police say the rapper, whose real name is William Drayton, was speeding and driving without a license en route to his mother’s funeral Jan. 9. The rapper pleaded not guilty Tuesday.

Drayton, who lives in Las Vegas, was accused of driving 79 mph in a 55 mph zone on Long Island. Police say the Long Island native also had a small amount of marijuana.

Drayton had to remove his trademark clock from around his neck to pass through the metal detector.
