POLICE CALLS
A summary of recent criminal activity in Poland and Boardman townships:
POLAND
Jan. 18
Identity fraud: A township woman, no address listed, told police her identity was compromised.
Jan. 21
Harassment: A James Street girl said she’s being harassed.
Jan. 24
Burglary: Police apprehended 60-year-old Charles P. Axe of Avalon Drive and charged the Hermitage, Pa., man with burglary, criminal damaging, obstructing official business and resisting arrest after a burglary in the 3100 block of Whittier Court.
BOARDMAN
Jan. 24
Arrest: Peter T. Bizon, 75, of Middleburg Heights, surrendered on two counts of violating a protection order after a Fawn Court woman alleged he sent one Christmas card each to her two sons, 13 and 15, after she had obtained a civil-protection order against Bizon on their behalf.
Domestic violence: An 11-year-old township boy was charged after his mother alleged the boy had punched, kicked and struck her during an argument related to behavior problems.
Theft: A worker with a Boardman-Poland Road automotive-service center reported two code scanners stolen, for a $400 loss.
Assault: A driver told police that while at a red light at U.S. Route 224 and Southern Boulevard, another motorist spit at and threatened him when angered after the accuser had apparently turned in front of him.
Theft: A man and a woman reportedly stole a $280 laptop computer from Best Buy, 561 Boardman-Poland Road.
Possible theft: A dealer license plate was lost or stolen from a car at a Market Street dealership.
Citation: A traffic stop near Tiffany Boulevard resulted in a citation charging James Grantz, 49, of Old Hickory Court, North Lima, with operating a vehicle impaired.
Theft: Jesse K. Rapp, 26, who listed addresses in Columbiana, Salem and North Lima, surrendered after being accused of stealing a $380 cellphone Jan. 10 from Target, 417 Boardman-Poland Road.
Arrest: Ashley R. Cunningham of Cook Avenue, Boardman, surrendered on a falsification charge, a first-degree misdemeanor, after police said the 20-year-old woman falsely claimed to have been a domestic-violence victim.
Jan. 25
Domestic violence: Charles J. Patton, 53, of Glenwood Avenue, Boardman, was charged with the crime after his elderly father alleged Patton had threatened him several times, causing the accuser to fear for his safety.
Attempted burglary: Someone pried open a rear door but failed to enter the home in the 7300 block of Glenwood Avenue.
Breaking and entering: A metal jack was used to smash a side window and allow someone to enter R.L. Best Co., 723 Bev Road, though it was unknown if anything was taken.
Unauthorized use of a vehicle: A Glenwood Avenue man said his son took the accuser’s 2006 Chevrolet Monte Carlo without permission.
Drugs: Howard C. Madison Sr., 30, was cited after Boardman police alleged Madison, of Green Acres Drive, Liberty Township, had two bags of suspected marijuana.
Theft: A Meadowbrook Avenue woman reported the theft of a $600 collectible statue from her residence.
Domestic violence: Charges of domestic violence, obstructing official business and resisting arrest were pending against a 17-year-old township girl after her grandmother alleged that during an argument, the teen had struck her arm when told she was not permitted to go to Southern Park Mall because of dangerous driving conditions. The girl also refused to obey officers’ commands, they said.
Assault: A Silver Fox Drive boy told officers he was tackled and placed in a headlock while in a fight with two other youngsters.
Jan. 26
Theft: Marquaias T.F. Thomas of Breadon Street and Jazmen N. Wilkins of Crandall Avenue, were charged. The two 20-year-old Youngstown women were accused of stealing a Microsoft 360 game controller and a DVD player from Walmart, 1300 Doral Drive.
Attempted assault: A Southern Boulevard man alleged that during an argument, a woman tried to hit him with an ice scrapper and, as he tried to prevent her from leaving, attempted to strike him with her vehicle while backing out.
Menacing: An employee with a Boardman-Canfield Road pizzeria told officers that a Shields Road man threatened to damage her vehicle as she made a delivery. The man evidently was angered that the worker didn’t have the correct change, she reported.
Harassment: A Lockwood Boulevard woman said she’s received a series of such calls.
Jan. 27
Theft: Officers at the Trumbull County jail picked up 30-year-old Michael T. Pence of Hobart Road, Leavittsburg, on a theft warrant. He was accused of stealing a $248 home-theater system last August from Walmart.
Theft: A township boy, 15, was charged with theft and being an unruly juvenile after $18 worth of items was stolen from Walmart. Also, facing charges of theft and contributing to the delinquency of a minor was 19-year-old Chad P. Daley of Sharrott Road, Poland.
Bad check: A man paid for a camera at YM Camera, 755 Boardman-Canfield Road, with a $353 check returned on a closed account.
Theft: Laiken N. Scheetz, 22, of Sanderson Avenue, Campbell, was charged with stealing roughly $405 worth of clothing and other merchandise from Kohl’s, 383 Boardman-Poland Road.
Theft: Lasabrea D. Trice of West Boston Avenue, Youngstown, faced a theft charge. The 27-year-old Trice was accused of stealing a cheesecake and 38 other items valued at $216 from Walmart.
Jan. 28
Theft: James Stanford Jr., 44, who listed Youngstown addresses on Landsdowne Boulevard and Brookline Avenue, was taken into custody during a traffic stop in the 8000 block of Market Street. He was accused of stealing $132 worth of DVDs last March from Walmart.
Harassment: A Lemans Drive man said he received two unsettling calls from people claiming he had struck their vehicles, despite the fact he doesn’t own a car.
Theft: Authorities charged Devana M. Williams, 20, of Canton, with theft and contributing to the delinquency of a minor, along with a 16-year-old Massillon girl with theft, after 14 articles of clothing, four Wii game controllers and a portable battery pack were stolen from Walmart.
