Rescue Mission seeks warm clothing and other essentials

YOUNGSTOWN — The Rescue Mission of the Mahoning Valley, 962 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., is overloaded with people seeking shelter from the frigid temperatures.

Mission officials have asked the community to donate pillows, fitted sheets, blankets and winter coats for adults and children. New is preferred but clean, used donations will be accepted.

Normal capacity for the shelter is 96, and 106 is the emergency level. On Thursday, the mission housed about 160 women, children and men, officials said.
