CANFIELD
A 29-year-old Youngstown man has been charged with rape by Canfield police.
Timothy Hancher is in Mahoning County jail, accused of raping a 16-year-old Canfield girl.
Hancher is married and the father of three with another child on the way, according to police records.
The investigation into the incident began last Thursday.
Police say Hancher took the girl to his Youngstown apartment, where he asked her to take off her clothes to help her open up to him and get over her fears.
He said he believed the girl was possessed by a demon, according to a police report.
It eventually was decided that he should have sex with her to help her, according to police.
Hancher has no past criminal record.
