CLEVELAND — The Browns announced Thursday afternoon that they have hired Mike Pettine as their new head coach.

Pettine spent the 2013 season as the Buffalo Bills defensive coordinator after four seasons in the same role with the New York Jets.

The Browns have been searching for the 15th full-time coach in the team's history since firing Rob Chudzinski on Dec. 29, hours after their regular-season finale against the Pittsburgh Steelers. Chudzinski was 4-12 in his only season.
