Inmate linked to 2010 burglary by bottle DNA

ERIE, Pa. (AP) — A state prison inmate serving time for a theft conviction has been charged with a 2010 burglary of a home after police say they matched his DNA to that found on a discarded wine bottle at the scene.

Online court records don’t list an attorney for the new charges filed against 48-year-old Michael Bailey, of Erie.

The Erie Times-News reports Erie police filed the charges last week, after Bailey allegedly confessed to the November 2010 break-in after he was confronted with the DNA evidence.

Bailey is serving a 16- to 32-month term at the State Correctional Institution-Albion.

He faces a preliminary hearing Monday on the new charges of burglary, conspiracy, theft and receiving stolen property.
