Youngstown cops seeking driver who hit sheriff's cruiser

YOUNGSTOWN

Police are looking for the driver of a pickup truck that destroyed a Mahoning County Sheriff’s Office cruiser about 12:30 a.m. today.

Reports said the cruiser was traveling north on Fifth Avenue when a red pickup truck ran a red light at Fifth Avenue and West Federal Street and hit the cruiser, then drove away.

The deputy inside was taken to St. Elizabeth Health Center, police said. He was treated and is “pretty banged up” a sheriff’s department spokesman said.
