Champion wins state team bowling title

COLUMBUS — The Champion boys bowling team held off Struthers in the finals to win the Division II state championship Friday at Wayne Webb's Columbus Bowl.

The Golden Flashes beat Vermilion and Versailles in the first two rounds, then defeated Struthers in the finals. The Wildcats got to the finals with victories over Clyde and Coldwater.

Struthers senior Dan DiLoreto was the top individual bowler in Division II with games of 243, 201 and 234 for a 678 series.

Champion senior Danny Simmons was fifth overall with games of 200, 242 and 205 for a 647 series.
