Contract laborer injured in mishap at Lordstown GM

LORDSTOWN

A contract laborer working to dismantle an obsolete piece of equipment outside of the General Motors Lordstown facility’s West metal center was injured at 11:30 a.m. today.

The worker was “dismantling an obsolete press,” GM Lordstown spokesman Tom Mock said. Mock could not identify the man or the company he worked for and said he didn’t know how the accident occurred.

The press had been inside the plant and had been moved outside for disassembly, Mock said.

The Lordstown Police Department and Lordstown Fire Department are investigating, but no other agencies are involved at this time, Mock said.

The worker was taken to a local hospital, but Mock said he didn’t know which one.
