Warren Harding junior Emily Thirion placed 10th in the 100 breaststroke (1:06.44) and 14th in the 50 freestyle (24.44) at Saturday’s Division I state swimming finals at C.T. Branin Natatorium.

Boardman’s Brooke Bailey placed 11th in the 100 breast (1:06.72), Jessica Hilk was 20th in the 100 fly (59.21) and the 200 medley relay was 18th (1:50.61). Bailey and Hilk joined Sarah Gonda and Jordyn Markovitch on the relay.

“We’re real pleased with whole weekend,” Boardman coach Terry O’Halloran said. “Brooke came back and dropped her time, going from 14th seed to 11th place.

“It was her second-fastest time and she finished top-16 for all of Ohio,” O’Halloran said. “It was a very good day for us.”

Harding junior Dylan Thirion placed 21st in the 50 free (21.83) and 22nd in the 100 free (47.53).

It was Boardman’s 15th consecutive year of sending swimmers to the state meet.

“D-I swimming is a tough nut to crack,” O’Halloran said. “We were really hoping that our relay team would have finished top- 16, but they were off by a half second. In swimming, that’s a lot.”
