Four more seniors living at an assisted-living facility in southwestern Ohio have become ill with what’s believed to be norovirus.

That makes 27 residents and one staff member who have recently come down with the virus at Atria Northgate Park in Colerain Township.

Mike Samet, a Hamilton County Health Department spokesman, says norovirus is suspected because of the symptoms, which include diarrhea, vomiting and stomach pain.

About 140 at the facility are being asked to stay in their rooms, and communal meals and activities have been suspended indefinitely to help stop the highly contagious virus from spreading.

Samet says the health department is investigating the source of the virus and says it likely came from someone in food service.

The facility is being disinfected.
