Canfield swim team state qualifiers

Canfield high school’s swim team has announced its state qualifiers. Kyle Anderson placed 20th in the 200 yard individual medley and 23rd in the 500 yard free, Drew Bennett placed 20th in the 200 yard free and 18th in the 500 yard free, Daniel Bogen placed sixth in the 50 yard free and seventh in the 100 yard free, Connor Brady placed sixth in the 100 yard butterfly and seventh in the 100 backstroke, and Mike DiDomenico placed in the 200 and 400 free relay. Connor Brady, Drew Bennett, Mike DiDomenico and Daniel Bogen placed third in the 200 yard free relay, and ninth in the 400 yard free relay.

Diamondback to offer senior golf clinic

Diamondback Golf Course is having simulator golf clinics for seniors (55 and over) on Feb. 24 from 9-11 a.m. There will be a closest to pin contest (Pebble Beach # 7--106 yards) and complimentary coffee and doughnuts. The cost for the clinic is $5.

Canfield hockey players named to GCHSHL All Stars

Senior captain Nick Crescimanno was named All Blue Division Honorable Mention and freshman defenseman Anthony Clendenin was also named by the Greater Cleveland High School Hockey League as Blue East Division 2nd Team Defense in GCHSHL coaches voting released today. Crescimanno led the Cards with nine goals and four assists while playing both offense and defense throughout the season. Clendenin played in every game for the Cards, who were short handed throughout most of the season, playing tough on the blue line and showing the ability to make offensive plays, including 5 assists in one game, a freshman school record for Canfield. Canfield will travel to Kent State to take on Mentor Lake Catholic in the state high school hockey sectionals.

The sports news we’re looking for ranges from varsity high school teams down to middle school and even elementary and recreational leagues. And not just basketball — we want wrestling, bowling, swimming, gymnastics and hockey, too.
