The three-part Youngstown State University Alumni Lecture Series, presented by the Office of Alumni Events and Management, begins with “The Outlook for Individuals’ Retirement Security in the United States,” hosted by Jill McCullough at 6 p.m. Wednesday in Williamson Hall Auditorium.
The lecture will focus on the issue of retirement security for baby boomers and Generation X-ers who face a different circumstance than their parents did, due to longer life spans and lack of saving and pension plans.
The event will explore policy solutions and address steps individuals should take to ensure their retirement security. The presentation will include five common mistakes to avoid when planning your retirement, how to access resources and the current state of the nation’s retirement readiness.
McCullough is an assistant professor of finance for the Lariccia School of Accounting and Finance. She has more than 20 years of experience in financial planning and has been a certified financial planner practitioner since 1992.
Until 2007, she had practiced finance in a private practice facilitated by herself and her business partner. The private practice managed an excess of $60 million in investments.
McCullough earned her doctorate degree in management from Weatherhead School of Business at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland.
The Lariccia School of Accounting and Finance is an extension of the Williamson College of Business Administration, an AACSB-accredited institution.
Networking will start in Williamson Hall Atrium at 5:30 p.m.
The fee to attend for Alumni Society members is $5, $7 for nonmembers and free for YSU students. Hors d’oeuvres are included.
