Man who impersonated cop up for parole

A man who was sentenced to prison in 1992 after pleading guilty to charges he impersonated a police officer and then raped several women is up for parole in April.
Members of the Victim/Witness office at the Mahoning County Prosecutor’s Office are seeking anyone who may have been a victim of Aaron Tabor, 44, of Niles, who is serving a prison sentence of 18 to 43 years for the assaults, which happened in 1991.
Tabor pleaded guilty in common pleas court to five counts of kidnapping, four counts of rape, one count of felonious assault, five counts of impersonating a police officer and five counts of possession of criminal tools.
His sentence was handed down by former Judge Peter Economus.
Police said Tabor would flash a badge that looked like a police badge at women in Youngstown to get them to come up to his car.
He would then threaten the women with a gun if they would not have sex with him.
Tabor had been a security guard at two different stores before he was arrested, police said.
The crimes happened in 1991 in Youngstown.
Judy Arnaut of the victim/witness office said they are having trouble finding some of Tabor’s victims to notify them of the parole hearing.
She asked if anyone was a victim to call her office at 330-740-2082.
