3 indicted after Ohio girl's email plea for help
PORTSMOUTH, Ohio (AP) — Two Ohio parents and a grandmother have been indicted after authorities say they tied three home-schooled children to their beds for weeks at a time, beat their naked bodies with belts and paddles, and deprived them of food.
The indictments were handed down today in Scioto County Common Pleas Court in southern Ohio.
The adults are charged with three counts each of child endangerment. The 44-year-old stepfather also was charged with two counts of raping the two oldest girls in the home, ages 9 and 11.
The Associated Press is not naming the suspects to protect the children’s identities.
The Scioto County Sheriff’s Office says they learned about the alleged abuse after one of the girls sent an email for help to a teacher at the children’s online school.
