Canada geese help

BOARDMAN

A free public program for landowners about conflict management with Canada geese will be offered March 13 in the Lariccia Family Community Center’s Rotary Room at Boardman Park, 375 Boardman-Poland Road. The seminar, which will run from 6 to 8 p.m., will be led by Division of Wildlife staff who specialize in dealing with goose conflicts. Topics to be covered include Canada goose biology, ecology and population trends. The program is best suited for age 16 and up.

Siren tests March 5

All 53 Mahoning County emergency alert sirens will sound for three minutes in a statewide tornado drill at 9:50 a.m. March 5. It is part of the annual Ohio Spring Weather Awareness Week observance, said Dennis O’Hara, interim county emergency management director.

Warren drug panel

WARREN

Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine is organizing a panel discussion on how the Warren community is addressing the challenges of drug addiction. The public event will take place at 3 p.m. Feb. 27 at First United Methodist Church, 309 N. Park Ave. It will feature local experts discussing the issue followed by an open discussion. “On average, five people die every day in our Ohio because of accidental overdose,” DeWine says in a press release.

The Trumbull County Health District Advisory Council is seeking candidates to fill a five-year position on the Trumbull County Board of Health.

The advisory council requires all interested parties to complete a nomination petition. A copy of the petition can be obtained from the Trumbull County Health Department office, 176 Chestnut Street NE, or at its website, www.tcbh.org.Each candidate must be a U.S. citizen and a registered voter residing in the health district (residents of Warren, Niles and Girard are not eligible). Applicants should submit a letter of interest, resume and nominating petition to Johnna Ben at the Trumbull County Health Department by Feb. 24.

Car flips on I-680

YOUNGSTOWN

A person was sent to the hospital after a car flipped on Interstate-680 South near Steel Street around 7 p.m. Saturday.

Police were still investigating the accident but did say speed was a factor.
