Bogen, Brady qualify for state

CLEVELAND

Canfield High swimmer Daniel Bogen qualified for three state races during Friday’s Division II district competition at Cleveland State University.

The top two finishers in each race at the five district meets qualify for the state meet that will be held from Wednesday through Feb. 22 at the C.T. Branin Natatorium in Canton.

Sixteen at-large qualifiers for each race will be announced on Sunday.

With a time of 21.49, Bogen finished second in the 50 yard freestyle race. He also was second in the 100 freestyle (47.44).

Bogen also qualified with 200 freestyle relay team that placed second (1:28.47). The other members are Connor Brady, Drew Bennett and Michael DiDomenico. They also were third in the 400 freestyle.

Brady also qualified in the 100 butterfly. His 51.84 earned him second place. He also was third in the 400 freestyle.

Several other swimmers could be selected on Sunday. Canfield’s Kyle Anderson was fourth in the 200 IM while Howland’s Brandon Sekanick was third in the 100 breaststroke.

Bennett was fifth in the 500 freestyle and sixth in the 200 freestyle.

Canfield’s 200 medley relay team (Anderson, Matthew Bogen, Adam Weiss, Ben Brucoli) was sixth.
