Urban growers seek applications

The Mahoning Valley Food Coalition, a local food advocacy group, identified nine new positions directly related to food production and the local food system.
The new entrepreneurs and established organizations are seeking applications for the positions as they try to establish a food system that spurs growth in the local economy.
Grow Youngstown is hiring a full-time manager with two years of experience in produce marketing or combined marketing and farming for its Farm to You program.
Additionally, the group has an opening in its Grow to Own program for a grower interested in farming at the intersection of Ohio and Fairgreen avenues on the North Side.

The Youngstown Neighborhood Development Corp. is hiring a lead urban farmer to manage day-to- day growing operations and the training of young farmers at Iron Roots Urban Farm in the Idora neighborhood of Youngstown on the South Side. It also will be adding positions for five Apprentice Farmers who will earn a living while learning the skills necessary to start their own urban farm businesses.
