Suit filed over man's killing at Ohio truck stop

DAYTON, Ohio (AP) — The family of an Illinois truck driver fatally shot by security guard at a southwest Ohio truck stop last year is suing.

Forty-eight-year-old Goran Sojic was killed by a 25-year-old security guard at a Love’s truck plaza in Dayton on Dec. 8. Love was unarmed, but witnesses said he was acting erratically, and aggressively approached the security guard.

The Dayton Daily News reports that Sojic’s widow and child have filed a federal wrongful-death lawsuit against the guard, the security company and the truck stop company. Their attorney says the guard acted inappropriately and the truck stop company was negligent.

The defendants denied the allegations in court filings.

No charges have been filed against the guard, but Dayton police say the investigation is still going on.
